    Production Operations

  • Heading operations and attaining the monthly production targets by assigning targets and tracking progress against targets by analyzing daily reports.
  • Designing and implementing systems, & procedures to facilitate smooth functioning of overall production operations & enhance operational efficiency.
  • Planning and effecting preventive maintenance schedules of various machineries and instruments to increase machine up time and equipment reliability.
  • Implementing stringent systems to enhance quality of products & ensure compliance with statutory quality, environment, health & safety standards.

  • Projects / New Set-ups

  • Setting up of green field projects with lean project management team
  • Designing manufacturing layouts and managing erection and commissioning activities of instruments, plant and machinery.
  • Monitoring projects with respect to Cost, Resource Deployment, Productivity & Manpower Planning to ensure timely completion of projects.

  • Value – Engineering

  • Analyzing various processes / applications and recommending process modifications and equipment calibrations to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Identifying capacity limitations & bottlenecks and process problems, plant upsets, reasons for production shortfall for taking corrective action to reduce cost of rejection of the material supplied.

  • C. Material Management

  • Steering strategic sourcing through identification of cost effective vendors/suppliers for procurement with an aim of reducing cost while improving quality & reliability.
  • Assessing performance of vendors based on various criterions such as percentage for rejections, quality improvement rate, timely delivery, credit terms etc.
  • Carrying out vendor localization/ indigenization/ import substitution for curtailing costs of materials as well as negotiating the terms of credit with vendors.
  • Implementing warehouse & inventory control measures to reduce obsolete stock, keep tab on slow-moving items and achieve reduction in inventory management cost.

  • D. Human Resource Management

  • Planning human resource requirements in consultation with heads of different functional & operational areas and conducting selection interviews.
  • Ensuring optimum and effective utilisation of funds in providing congenial work environment and basic amenities in the work premises.
  • Ensuring prompt resolution of employee grievances to maintain cordial management-employee relations and managing contract labor.
  • Negotiating and amicably settling disputes with the Union and maintaining discipline & harmonious working environment across all employee levels including settling long term agreements with significant improvement in productivity.

  • ORGANISATIONAL EXPERIENCE

    Vast experience of about 40 years in reputed organizations like Good Year India (General Manager), Borosil Glass works(VP Operations), JK Tyres (VP Works), Birla Tyres (Chief Manufacturing Officer).

    Significant Achievements;

  • Recipient of the Siemens Global Recognition Award “Top Plus” for outstanding performance by improving Quality & Productivity which in turn reduced the Non-Conformity costs by 1.66 Million Euro.
  • Augmented the production of company after signing the long term agreement with the Union on Jan’01 & again on Aug’05 by 43.8% and by 15% in 2009
  • Distinction of setting up Company’s Second Manufacturing Unit at Baddi, HP for manufacturing Static watt hour meter. It was a Green Field Project completed in less than a year in 2005.
  • Created a benchmark by reducing rejection level from 8% to less than 3%.
  • Visited China more than 40 times to develop vendors and procurement related activities apart from visiting the two plants located at Dalian and Zhuhai
  • Instrumental in turning around the performance of the Company through team building.
  • Recipient of prestigious “People Management Award” from the hands of Shri K.C.Pant, Chairman Planning Commission, Govt. Of India
  • Instrumental for implementation of TPM in JK Tyres at Mysore. Awarded by JIPM in the year 2010.
  • Initiated EFQM model for quality management for customer satisfaction.
  • Restructured the organization and made it leaner & focussed on improvement in all areas through implementation of internal audit findings.
  • Led a team of 2400 employees out of which 300 were qualified and experienced professionals.
